You are so wrong if you think that budget airlines have very cheap flight rates. They keep charging you extra money for excess baggage, food, boarding and simply anything other thing they can think off. You are literally unable to stop them and they make you their pawn.
Thank goodness, someone noticed after Ryanair was fined £2.6 million pounds by Italy Competition Authority (AGCM) for their preposterous hand luggage policy introduced in November. This policy meant that you were not allowed to bring hand luggage to the plain and if you did, you were charged for it. Yes! They were actually ripping you off of your money.
This is what the AGCM said:
“Hand carrying baggage is an important part of travel and air transport, so no additional prices should be charged for it.”
“Also, according to the European legislation, the price of the luggage should be included in the basic service as the added supplements are foreseeable. They should charge extra sum.”
“They shouldn’t deceive the consumers by charging extra sums when they are paying for it.”
Another airline called Wizzair was also fined with £871,000 for same reasons. These budget airlines make so much money that the fines probably don’t affect them. But it’s still good to see them getting trickled in this.
